How To Fit Plasterboard Around Sockets Accurately
If you’ve been trying to make fit plasterboard around switches and sockets on the wall etc, you may be pulling your hair out because you just can’t seem to measure the cuts right.
Well here’s a little tip that will save the headache and make the job a piece of cake. All you need to do is offer your piece of board up to the wall in the position you want to place it, then where your sockets, or rather back boxes are, give the board a good tap and you will make an impression on the back of the board where the cut needs to be. Simply cut it out with a sharp blade and when you fit the board permanently in place, you should find that it fits perfectly around the socket.
Another way of doing this is also ‘leading’ the front of the back box around the edges with a pencil before pressing the board up it to get the impression in the right place.
A simple but very effective method that works perfectly every time.

once I faced this situation. I was not able to measure it properly. so at then end i just took some white plaster and asked my friend to help me out. I just made a paste of this plaster and applied it over the edges.
What a simple solution to a vexing problem. Ragged edges around a socket look messy and drive me absolutely crazy. In the past I’ve filled in with putty, sanded and painted to cover the mistake.
